Those of you that have seen the compelling performance of Elizabeth Moss in The Handmaid's Tale recently will no doubt want to see the former Mad Men star in the second season of the critically acclaimed Top of the Lake. Written by Oscar winner Jane Campion, it's first outing was back in 2013 when Detective Robin Griffin (Moss) was brought into a case in a remote mountain town in New Zealand. For this season, she is back in Sydney, eager to throw herself into her work, while secretly planning to search for the daughter she gave up for adoption. However, when a suitcase containing the body of a young woman washes up on Bondi Beach, Robin and her new partner Miranda, played by Game of Thrones Gwendoline Christie (Brienne!), begin an investigation that leads them into the dark side of Sydney.

In this second episode of the series tonight, the autopsy of the body reveals more than expected about the victim known only as China Girl. Realising she was a sex worker, Robin and Miranda do the rounds of Sydney's brothels - only for a startling revelation to send the case in a new direction. Meanwhile, Robin contacts her daughter's adoptive parents Julia and Pyke, who agree to a meeting. And guess what? Julia is played by the one and only Nicole Kidman, looking very different from her usual self, as you can see above.
