A governess is sent to take care of two orphans living in a remote country house, where she is literally spooked by the presence of a pair of ghosts who seem to come and go as they please - and soon suspects the children know more about the spectres than they are letting on. Her anxiety builds when she learns that the previous governess, who was very close to the children, died with her lover in mysterious circumstances. Adapted from Henry James's novel by Sandy Welch (Emma, Jane Eyre), the drama, reset in the Twenties - when Britain is still imbued with the grief of the First World War - this chilling one-off drama is a complex study of the interactions between the living and the dead. Michelle Dockery, Sue Johnston, Mark Umbers, Josef Lindsay and Eva Sayer star.
