This documentary tells the bizarre story of an English artist called Neal MacGregor who died at the age of 45 on the island of Inishbofin on the coast of Galway. What's strange about that? Well, he spent the final eight years of his life on that island living in a stone shed without water, electricity or heating. This documentary tries to get to the bottom of why the artist decided to live like this, what his fellow islanders thought of him and uses the volumes of secret diaries he left behind to work out who 'The Stranger' was.
