The local newspaper has held an important place in Irish communities for centuries, but in this new fast-paced tech driven world we live in where news is readily available at the touch of a button, circulation is starting to dwindle and the dear old local rag is facing serious challenges. This documentary follows some of the few remaining family owned newspapers weathering the storm, beginning with the Clare Champion, the Mayo News and the Munster Express, looking at the vital role they play in their communities, and the variety of stories they publish - from sporting triumphs to terrible tragedies, births and deaths, and even dogs with their own columns.
