Funk music is enjoying a renaissance, thanks in part to one Nile Rodgers teaming up with a certain French electro duo by the name of Daft Punk. However, the genre has been a mainstay for DJs for many years and has an incredibly vast back catalogue. This documentary charts the successes of funk, from Kool and The Gang to Average White Band to lesser-known entries such as Herbie Hancock and Parliament. As well as using archival BBC footage, the documentary also has recent interviews with luminaries. A must-watch for fans of great music.
