Directed by Emer Reynolds, The Farthest is an incredible documentary that is well-worth your time tonight, and fair play to RTE for landing it so quickly as it was only in cinemas this summer. It follows the story of the Voyager, a spaceship launched in 1977 to explore our solar system. On board, it contains the famous Golden Record - a time capsule essentially, featuring pictures and music from Earth so that if alien life ever found it they would know we are a sound bunch. It is now currently 12 billion miles away and is the farthest human-made object from Earth. Using footage from the Voyager itself and interviews with the engineers and scientists, The Farthest documents Voyager's travels and how it changed our understanding of space.
