It's Wednesday - AKA period drama night. However, unlike the never ending supply of Little Dorrit (8.00pm. BBC1), this epic Civil War drama - created and written by Martine Brant and BAFTA-winning playwright Peter Flannery - is coming to a close tonight. Sexby (John Simm) is arrested and exiled after he refuses to fight for Cromwell. Angelica is distraught, but agrees to honour Sexby's departing wish and settle her debt with her enemy Joliffe. Elizabeth says a final farewell to Lilburne, while Sexby returns to England under disguise, convinced that Cromwell was responsible for the murder of Rainsborough, and hatches a suicidal scheme to assassinate him on the day of his coronation.
