This doc reveals the events that led up to the Brighton hotel bombing thirty years ago, when a long-delay time bomb was planted in the hotel by IRA member Patrick Magee. The purpose was to kill Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet, who were staying there for a Conservative Party conference. Thatcher managed to escape injury but sadly five were killed with many more casualties. This documentary looks at the timeline of events and considers how the attack subsequently affected Anglo-Irish politics. Heavy stuff of a Monday but those who remember this turbulent time in Ireland/England's history will know what a challenging time it was for both nations.
