Steve Carrell became a huge star after starring in this hilarious and quirky comedy, about a man who hasn't gotten so much as a pity feel his entire adult life. When his work colleagues (including the brilliant Paul Rudd) find out, they set out to source a woman who will finally pop his rusted cherry. The directorial debut of the comedy juggarnaught that is Judd Apatow, (who went on to helm Knocked Up and produce Superbad) this was a huge sleeper hit upon its initial release in 2005. This was pretty much the film that introduced the world to character driven comedy again, after a bunch of efforts with Eddie Murphy wearing a fat suit, and Jack Black just being fat. The decidedly more serious Gosford Park is on Channel 4 from 9.00pm, if you fancy something a little different.
