It’s not easy going against the grain, especially when you’re on your own and you’re raising children as well. This one-off documentary looks at an extraordinary community of single mothers who are rejecting stereotypes and raising their kids their way. Set in Liverpool, we meet Sarah (aged 26) who is studying for a university degree and working full time while bringing up her twin sons; Mel (32), who has four kids by two different dads; and Carmen (37) who is working hard to turn her life around after recovering from cocaine and alcohol addiction.
