Fifty years ago (on June 1st 1967, to be exact), an album was released that changed the music industry - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band from The Beatles. This documentary explores the creation and ongoing influence of the revolutionary album. Hosted by British composer and television presenter Howard Goodall, the film reveals decades-old material that has been unseen by anyone outside of Abbey Road, including recordings of studio chat, isolated instrument tracks and vocals, outtakes, and alternative versions of world-famous songs. It also highlights how contemporary projects, such as Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade,’ couldn’t have happened without The Beatles upending the concept of what an album should be.
