Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson star in this film about the making of Mary Poppins. Thompson plays P.L. Travers, the curmudgeonly author of the Mary Poppins books, as she travels to Los Angeles to meet Walt Disney (Hanks) and hear his plans for adapting her life's work. While in Los Angeles, Travers reflects on her childhood growing up in poor rural Australia and the action flips between the two storylines. Hanks and Thompson are fantastic as always, while Colin Farrell puts in a great performance as Travers' father.
