Dermot Bannon returns for a new series of the home improvement series and this year he faces some of his toughest challenges yet. RTE's Room to Improve clients normally demand a lot from their architect. These days, they demand even more. More space, better value for money and layouts that will work just as well in ten years time as they do today. In this, the third series, presenter and architect Dermot is tested to his absolute limits. With budgets ranging from €35,000 to €120,000, he must remodel eight homes, from concept to completion. Programme one features a couple from Artane, North Dublin, Jennifer Burke and Quenton McGrath, who are expecting their second child. They bought their 3 bed semi a year ago and paid nearly half a million for it, today it's worth €360,000. Having invested a lot of time and additional money in it, their kitchen is still not right. Theirs is the smallest budget of the series. For €35,000 Quenton and Jennifer want to knock through into the garage to make their kitchen bigger, which Dermot believes "would be a disaster". He knows exactly how to solve their problem but it means destroying a lot of the work the couple have already done. First, of course, he needs to convince them.
