This hour-long special celebrates the LGBTQ community’s contributions to the arts in Britain in the fifty years since the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality. It features interviews from major figures across the arts and pop culture, including Stephen Fry, Val MacDermid, Nick Grimshaw, Sandi Toksvig, Alan Cumming, Will Young, Anthony Sher, David Hockney, Alan Hollinghurst, Jeanette Winterson and Russell T Davies. The programme explores the distinctive perspectives and voices that LGBT artists have brought to British cultural life, and considers how artists' sexuality might have shaped their art, giving it a unique outsider’s perspective on British life, and a subversive sense of wit and style.
