There's not many heart warming tales involving prostitution. This possibly explains why Gary Marshall's comedy from 1990 (which this previewer saw in the cinema, heaven's above) was so well received. Ruthless millionaire businessman Edward Lewis hires streetwise prostitute Vivian Ward to escort him to a series of high-profile engagements. As she struggles to understand the etiquette of higher society, Edward begins to realise he is falling madly in love with her, despite their many differences. And, let's face it, who - bar Peter Crouch - wants to pay for it for longer than necessary. In case you've been living under an airtight rock; Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, Ralph Bellamy, Laura San Giacomo and Jason Alexander all star in this film.
