In this documentary special, TV and radio presenter Stephen Byrne explores why soccer players are hesitant to come out as gay. He observes how this is an issue from the grassroots to the high leagues, and tries to understand why football is stereotypically ‘a straight game.’ As part of the programme, Stephen interviews a number of individuals with interesting insights on the matter, including former England international Graeme Le Saux, ex Welsh and British Lions captain Gareth Thomas, and ex- Leeds United and current LA Galaxy player Robbie Rogers. There are also vox pops with UK football fans who talk about their experience of homophobia in the game.
