Filmed over a summer in Colchester, Essex, this documentary, the first in a three-part series, tells the story of one SOS Bus, its volunteer paramedics, and the patients they treat. Every weekend, Colchester sees thousands of revellers out and about in its town centre. Waiting to take in the inebriated is the resident SOS Bus which is funded by local clubs and pubs. Run by teams of paramedics and volunteers whose day jobs range from a car mechanic to an advertising account manager, the team give up their free time to patch up the wounded. For something more inspiring, BBC4 are broadcasting Storyville Survivors: Lust for Life also at 10pm. 30-year-old director Heather Leach documents her battle with thyroid disease and cancer, in a film she began making six days after receiving her initial diagnosis.
