ITV normally don't wait too long to blatantly cog a competitor's format, but they kept this rip off of The Apprentice to their chests for a few years. It's the usual fare - eight salespeople have put their careers on hold, their reputations on the line, and are risking it all over six weeks for the ultimate buzz - to close the biggest deal of their lives. Replacing the existing workforce in real businesses across the UK, these ruthless professionals must hit aggressive sales targets, earn maximum commission and as a result push their combined kitty of cash ever higher. Each with buckets of self confidence they consider themselves to be at the top of their game whether in used cars, telesales or advertising, and all have their own unique patter that they believe stands them apart from the others. In the first episode the contestants take over as sales team at a Derby furniture store on a bank holiday Monday. All commission earned - plus a weekly bonus for hitting targets - is put into a central fund that only one can win. Riveting.
