Set in Northern Ireland during World War II, My Mother and Other Strangers follows the Coyne family and their neighbours as they struggle to keep life normal after a US Army Air Force airfield with 4,000 service men and women lands in the middle of their rural parish. In this second episode of the five part series, Francis and Seamie persuade the Hanlons to let them join a fishing trip, unaware the men are poaching eels. A chase unfolds between the Hanlons and the Bailiffs. Meanwhile, Rose (Hattie Morahan) struggles to contain her feelings for Captain Dreyfuss (Aaron Staton). A good one for fans of Rebellion and other Irish historical dramas.
