The kitchen hero is back as young foodie Donal Skehan looks back at the last fifty years of Irish food, examining how older generations cooked more than newer generations, despite ingredients being harder to find. In this first episode, he meets one of Ireland's leading publishers Michael Gill to discuss Theodora Fitzgibbon, author of 30 books and food writer for the Irish Times, and learns how cookery publishing has changed over the last 40 years. While in Muckross Traditional Farms Donal learns from farmer Neily Cahill how to milk a cow by hand, then makes a creamy rice pudding with rhubarb. Lovely stuff, although we're still not sure if Donal Skehan is any kind of chef, or just the ultimate blagger, either way, should make for an interesting enough show.
