Yet another programme relating to the 1916 Rising tonight, bet you haven't see one of those in a whole day and a half. Yes, yes though we know, it's important to commemorate such a significant time in our history etc etc.

This new series does look like it will be a good watch however, as it goes behind the scenes at the GPO, Ireland's busiest post office and of course the headquarters of the uprising's leaders back in 1916. Home to An Post since 1984, it's currently staffed by 950 people responsible for everything from co-ordinating mail delivery, to keeping the facilities suitably tidy. Yep, 950 staff... who'd have thought it?

The series begins with an introduction to cleaner Sue Gannon and patrolman Philip Freer, best friends who started working at the GPO on the same day back in 1997, and branch manager Shay Cullen, who hopes to make the GPO the leading office in the An Post league tables following a dismal performance two years ago..
