Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, who directed such films as Bend It Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice and the recent Viceroy's House, travels from Southall to Delhi in this documentary to find out about the Partition of India. Partition saw the country divided into two new nations - independent India and Pakistan - with the split causing disruption, violence and death. During her travels, Gurinder meets people whose lives were torn apart by Partition and talks to historians about why and how the split happened. She learns about the role of corrupt politicians and the British in this seismic 20th century event.
