This film based on the life of legendary Hollywood director Alfred Hitchcock went fairly under the radar when it was released in 2012. It is actually a pretty enjoyable flick and perfect for undemanding, late night viewing. Its charm is owed greatly to the leading performances of Sir Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, who respectively play the titular role and Alma Reville, the wife and closest collaborator of Hitchcock. The movie chronicles the challenging production of Psycho in 1959, as well as the changing dynamics in Hitchcock’s relationship with Alma. Scarlett Johansson also stars, in the role of Janet Leigh.
