We've seen many incarnations of Dracula over the years but this is not the story of the vampire but the story of the man. Bram Stoker based the character of Dracula on Vlad the Impaler, a fifteenth-century Romanian knight. Vlad isn't really a bad fella at the start, however, when faced with defending his homeland against Turkish invaders, he enters into a 'deal with the devil' scenario which could cost him his humanity. Luke Evans plays the title role, who recently won rave reviews for his performance in Beauty and the Beast as Gaston, while the movie also stars Dominic Cooper and Charles Dance, and even has an Irish director, Dublin man Gary Shore.
