Squinty Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team are back and this time they're leaping to the rescue of a family of five in Brynmawr, South Wales. After a run of good luck was swiftly followed by redundancy and debilitating illness, the kitchen extension started by Dad Ceri has been left unfinished and the house virtually uninhabitable. The family's three teenage daughters have spent the last two years living with their grandparents in their two bedroom flat. With the help of architectural designer Charlie Luxton, an army of local trades and lots of goodwill, the team transform this ex-council house into a family home. The family move out thinking that the team are going to help them by giving them a cosy kitchen, where they can cook and eat together. Little do they know, the local community - like in that episode of The Simpsons when the town rebuilds Ned Flanders's'ss home, has come together to transform this whole house into a home and bring this family back under one roof.
