A Union soldier's prejudiced outlook is transformed by Sioux Indians who befriend and adopt him into their tribe at the height of the American Civil War. And there's the lengthy plot in a tidy nutshell for ya. This Oscar-winning Western was adapted by Michael Blake from his own novel. It was also directed by it's star, Kevin Costner, with Mary McDonnell, Floyd Red Crow Westerman, Graham Greene and Maury Chaykin. If a greasy looking Costner doesn't whip your imagination into a frenzy, you might want to flick over to BBC1 at 5.35pm for Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out. The old ones are the best.
