The Irish-American talkshow host originally hosted NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien which every evening followed the prestigious and long-running The Tonight Show hosted by Jay Leno. In a high profile announcement in 2004, NBC officially declared that Conan O'Brien would take over as host of The Tonight Show in 2009, replacing Jay Leno after a seventeen year run and that Leno would get his own primetime variety show at 10pm, called The Jay Leno Show. However, after only 7 months of Conan O’Brien’s hosting of The Tonight Show, NBC stated that they intended to move Jay Leno from primetime back to his original timeslot, with O'Brien's programme being pushed to shortly after midnight. Unhappy at this decision to say the least, O’Brien negotiated a $45 million severance deal with NBC to end his relationship with the network, in what was considered one of the worst PR cases ever handled by the corporation. And this is the result - a talk show on TBS. It kicked off last week in the states, so it might look a bit dated, but sure we're used to that. Expect guests such as Lea Michelle, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Rosario Dawson, Russell Brand and Venus Williams.
