BBC series Call the Midwife follows a group of nuns and midwives working in London's East End during the 1960s. In the season six finale, an unexpected turn of events leads to a wedding being hastily arranged. Shelagh finally goes into labour, and the arrival of the pill leads to unforeseen consequences. The episode also sees the return of Emerald Fennell’s Nurse Patsy Mount, who departed the show earlier in the series when her character’s father fell ill. Three more series of the show have been confirmed following this one so don’t worry, this isn’t the last you’ll see of the period drama.
