Not to be confused with the very entertaining Big Bang Theory, this new series sees Dallas Campbell, Liz Bonnin (yep, she's still knocking around TV land), Jem Stansfield and Dr Yan Wong explain how science shapes the world and put theories to the test with a range of imaginative experiments. They begin by focusing on gait recognition, vortex rings, genetic engineering and a novel way to cook an egg (naturally, it involves the aid of a Bunsen burner). It's a bit like Tomorrow's World meets How. Stick with BBC1 for some stellar (if slightly grim) viewing tonight in the form of Panorama at 8.30pm (the subject tonight is Post-traumatic stress disorder), while The Street (at 9.00pm) sees former Robin Hood star Jonas Armstrong play a Territorial Army soldier sent home to his family from Afghanistan after suffering serious facial injuries.
