Based on the famous play, Meryl Streep gives one of her best performances in years as an aging, pill-popping, bitter matriarch who reunites with her three daughters - Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis and Julianne Nicholson - at the funeral of her husband and their father. Whilst together, Streep's character gives each and every one of them both barrels while she grapples with her own grief. Tough, blackly funny and deeply emotional, it's no wonder August Osage County was nominated for a rake of Oscars.
