Argo's a perfect example of the truth being stranger than fiction. During the 1979 Iranian Revolution, a number of Americans were trapped in the country and in hiding at the Canadian Embassy. Ben Affleck, who won a Best Director Golden Globe, stars as the CIA agent tasked with getting them out. How? By pretending to shoot a film in Iran and using the hostages as his crew. Taut, well-written and with a truly nail-biting climax, Argo deservedly won Best Picture at the 2012 Oscars. A must-see.
