This RTE documentary takes a look at those young adults who come out of state care at the age of eighteen to live independently. We meet 20-year-old Mike from Limerick, who as a teenager, received an educational opportunity which changed the direction of his life and now he plans to run his own business. However, it doesn't work out so well for everyone, Tony from Kildcare has been forced to sleep on friends' sofas and in doorways, and in an attempt to find shelter, eventually sought a temporary bed in a psychiatric hospital, despite not having a mental illness. Elsewhere, 19-year-old Chantelle hopes to train as a care worker as she feels she can bring her experiences to the role.
