RTE must have been convinced Matthew McConaughey would win the Emmy for True Detective this week with the double bill of his movies both last night and tonight. He lost out to Bryan Cranston though, but never mind, any excuse to watch this fantastic flick again. It was made over 18 years ago now but stars a whole load of famous faces that are still knocking around. McConaughey plays a Mississippi lawyer who agrees to defend a black man charged with killing two racist thugs who raped his ten-year-old daughter. Yep, dark stuff undoubtedly, but superb performances from its cast which also includes Samuel L Jackson, Sandra Bullock, Donald Sutherland, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Spacey and even our own Brenda Fricker gets a look-in.
