In A Thousand Words, Eddie Murphy stars as a literary agent named Jack who lies to secure big deals (and freebies) until it catches up on him. One night a magical Bodhi tree appears in his backyard and every time Jack speaks, it loses leaves. He realises that he now has to save his words because when the tree loses all of its leaves, it will die, as will he. However, this puts his job, as well as his marriage, in jeopardy.

It’s not the actor’s best (in fact, the premise of having Eddie Murphy not speak, when he is so well-known for his comedic, witty chatter, is pretty baffling), but it’s a sweet, feel-good movie choice for a weekday night.
