Ireland and Scotland have a shared history that goes back thousands of years, with the northeast of Ulster and south-west of Scotland forming the kingdom of Dalriada back in the 6-7th century. These days their influences on each other can be seen in the culture, language, work and faith in both countries. In this new three-part series, Lesley Riddoch explores the historic relationship between Scotland and Ireland, beginning tonight with a visit to the citadel of the ancient kingdom of Dalriada in Argyll, as well as meeting with Highland dancers in Co Tyrone. Lesley also chats to members of the Colmcille Pipe Band from Londonderry as they prepare for the UK pipe band championships, and also talks to Scottish broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove about the historic rivalry between Celtic and Rangers.
