The pick up line to end all pick up lines, "I've got my own castle", is one that we've always wanted to say, and it turns out we could do it for less than the price of a house in Dublin.

Benkinsopp Castle, near Hadrian's Wall in Northumbria, has four bedrooms, two reception rooms, IS A CASTLE, and is on the market for £325,000 (around €442,000). In case you haven't been reading the news about the property prices in Ireland being on the up on a more or less constant basis for the last few years, that's cheaper than a fair few of the properties on the market in Dublin at the moment. As The Telegraph report, that's also cheaper than the average semi-detached property in London, too, so it's a bargain altogether.

While the bedrooms and castle aspect are all great, you also get a set of 14th century medieval ruins included in the price so that's added bang for your buck, and you get a fortified tower because it's a bloody castle. have we mentioned it's a castle?

While the castle only dates back to 1939, rumour has it that there's also a ghost thrown in to the mix for good measure, as apparently the widow of Bryan de Blenkinsopp haunts the halls of the home.

Ailsa Mather, from the estate agent Andrew Coulsen, who are in charge of the listing, said: "It's an incredible property. The history of the place alone makes it worth the very ordinary price as well as the fact that it's a beautiful and practical family home". We're certainly thinking of lodging a bid anyway and turning , we just need someone to send us €441,997.50. We knew we shouldn't have bought that coffee on the way to work today...
