There's little doubting that comic books can make some serious cash as collectors' items if you manage to keep them in good knick for long enough, and that's exactly what happened for one seller who scooped a cool $3.2 million for one of their collection.
Action Comics issue #1 is famous all over the world for being not only the comic in which we first meet Superman, but also being one of the rarest (between 50-100 estimated to exist in the word) and most expensive issues, so if you happen to have one stored away in your attic, it might be worth dusting it down and trying to sell it, as it's worth a few bob.
$3.2 million bob, to be precise, at least if yours is in as good condition as the owner of Pristine Comics, Darren Adams' copy. Rated as a 9.0 Certified Guaranty Company (CGC), the copy is in amazing condition, and despite being released back in 1938, selling for just 10c, its pages were still white and crisp.
When Adams listed it on eBay, he started the bidding at just 99c, but within two hours it was at over $1.5 million, before eventually selling for double that total.
A percentage of the sale ($32,078.52) will go to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The comic which previously held the title of 'most expensive in the world' was another copy of the same issue, which belonged to Nicholas Cage, and was valued at $2.16 million.
