Dafoe had several great tales to tell, such as when he got fired from his first film, Heaven’s Gate, and relates a genuinely laugh-out-loud story about trying to hide his private parts between his legs and requiring some repulsed stunt men to tuck it back in.

He also described the intensity of working on Platoon, slapping Johnny Depp’s bottom in Cry Baby, going skinny dipping with Lars von Trier, and having a penis double (no, we don’t know why penises kept coming up...).

He also has a really good memory for how he dies in his movies (which happens a lot).
