According to reports, the man who the cop wanted to search, or rather his car, had a rifle in the back seat. The cop wanted to search the car, but the owner wouldn't allow him. That's when it got a little out of hand.
In an interview with Photography is Not a Crime, Adam Roberts who shot the video said they were approached by Sheriff Deputies having parked in a near by business and walked to a party. That's when the cops approached them.
The officer featured in the video, Sgt. Shawn R. Glans acknowledged to the Albany Times Union that the video “doesn’t look good” but insisted he “was concerned,” because “it was a public safety issue." and said if he “had to it all over again … I’d probably do the same thing,"
