It's a long way to Tipperary, but it's an even longer way from Nenagh to Beijing.
James Costello, Brian Gleeson and Willie Gleeson are all headed to China to attend the wedding of their childhood friend Alan Ho, who is getting married to Sophie in September of this year in Beijing.
While the guys could have decided to hop on a flight and take a bit of a break while they're there, they've decided instead to make a bit of a challenge out of it and will leave from Nenagh in a car with the three lads and their gear, en route to China.
The drive will take them across the continent of Europe, into Turkey, "through all the -stans" as they say themselves, and eventually on to Beijing, in a journey that will be about 13,000km in total. They plan to leave eight weeks before the wedding, and while it's sure to be a bit of craic, there's also a more important reason for the trip.
They've decided to use this happy occasion to raise funds for the Lauralynn Foundation that provides palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. You can get to know the guys, their motivations, and most importantly how to donate and help them along the way over on their website, where they'll also keep everyone up to date with what happens to them along the way.
Talk about a motley crew, but sure where would you be goin? China, actually.
