56-year-old Italian actor Riccardo Acerbi is the latest face to portray the brand's mascot and he's gotten quite a bit of attention from a lot of (thirsty) people.
Birds Eye revealed the new Captain yesterday alongside a new £8m ad campaign and it's fair to say people took notice.

Birds Eye claim that Acerbi went through "a rigorous audition process", in which he impressed with his "genuine approach to portraying the captain and his love of the sea" and they say he has an "affinity for water sports including sailing and canoeing" which they believe gives him the "necessary seafaring qualities required by the Captain."
Oh yeah, we're sure that's why they hired him...
