If you were waiting for Sarah Silverman to have her say about Louis C.K. and wondering if it was going to be worth it, don't worry, it is.
In her opening monologue on her Hulu show 'I Love You, America', Silverman addressed the ongoing revelations of sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood and although she wished she "could sit this one out", she reacted to her "best friend" Louis C.K.'s behaviour in a heartbreaking but sincere and honest speech.
"One of my best friends for twenty years, Louis C.K., masturbated in front of women. He wielded his power with woman in fucked up ways," she said. "I could couch this with heartwarming stories of our friendship and what a great dad he is. But that’s totally irrelevant, isn’t it?"
She also went on to talk about the conflicted feelings that many will probably feel, saying: "I hope I am at once very angry for the women he wronged and the culture that enabled it, and also sad. Because he’s my friend.
"But I believe with all my heart that this moment in time is essential. It is vital that people are held accountable for their actions, no matter who they are. We need to be better. I can’t wait to be fucking better."
