If you were wondering why you hadn't seen much of Jimmy Fallon on your timeline in the past week, it's because the late night host cancelled the week's show following the passing of his mother, Gloria.
Last night saw Fallon's return to the show and opened the show by talking about his mother and her passing as he held back tears. It's pretty raw stuff, especially from a host who's often accused of being somewhat one-note and superficial.
Fallon's mother passed away ten days ago on November 4th. In his speech, Fallon said that he'd "never stop trying to make her laugh."
Here's the clip.
