All of our childhoods could have been a lot different if it wasn't for Jake Gyllenhaal's meddling parents, who kept him out a massive movie back in the early '90s.

Gyllenhaal was on The Howard Stern Show promoting Southpaw this week when the topic turned to the early stages of his career. Gyllenhaal got his big break in City Slickers when he was ten years old, and all of that would have continued with a role in Disney's The Mighty Ducks had his parents not been against the idea.

He doesn't reveal which part he was up for, and does a bit of back and forth about whether or not he's watched the film but we reckon he has. Of course he has. Who hasn't seen The Mighty Ducks.

It's a shame really. He would have been really good at the 'Ducks! Ducks! Ducks!' part. The main question out of all of this though is how come they didn't let him The Mighty Ducks but they let him do Bubble Boy? For shame.
