For country folk, there's really nothing quite like an announcer at a town festival.
They're usually perched at a small table, possibly under a makeshift tarp of some sort.
You can almost always hear them for miles around the townland, and they're always excited. Really, really excited.
Whether it's announcing the winner of a raffle or what's next in the annual Community Games run-around-a-field-twice event, they're just there to get everyone amped up.
And, sadly, it almost always fails.
Case in point.
