It's quite prescient that inventor Catalain Alexandru Duru has begun more extensive work on his hoverboard, especially when you consider that Marty McFly and Doc Brown are due to be landing in 'the future' next Tuesday.
Duru broke the world record in May for longest hoverboard flight, flying five metres above a lake and travelled a distance of just under 300 metres for just over a minute and a half. Duru's company, Omni Hoverboards, are already hard at work on a next-gen version of the hoverboard that won him the world record.
The hoverboard took two attempts in his test, as you can see above, to get going - but it's clear the system is being perfected bit by bit. Working off a similar system to drone flyers and with pretty crazy-ass helicopter blades, it'll probably be a few years before everyone has one.
