As Hurricane Gonzalo passed over Ireland with very little damage of note, England was a different story, as storm force winds battered the country felling trees, causing massive waves and even turning waterfalls around.
The Kinder Downfall waterfall in the Derbyshire Peak District, near Hayfield, is where the river Kinder normally cascades down 80ft but was stopped and blown back up onto the plateau by high winds from the hurricane, and was caught on camera by brazen photographer Rod Kirkpatrick, who for some reason thought that climbing through the wilderness during a storm was a good idea. Don't go trying this at Powerscourt.
