Before Dwayne Johnson became the highest paid actor of the year, he was of course world-renowned wrestler The Rock.
For a new series on his Youtube channel called The Rock Reacts, Johnson released the debut video yesterday in which he watches his first-ever WWF (now WWE) match.
It’s from 1996, so exactly 20 years ago. The Rock first breaks down just how big a deal his first match was, given its high viewership and the fact that he had a family legacy to carry (his father and grandfather both being wrestlers too).
He’s able to laugh at his hairstyle (‘Oh shit, look at that hair’) and mess ups (well camera set-ups can be confusing…) as well as acknowledge his allies and the significance of that fight in his career (‘they’re chanting my name,’ he says wistfully).
