Sometimes we all get struck with a moment of inspiration wherein a plan so devilishly great comes to our minds that we can't help but pat ourselves on the back.
That was not the case for this particular criminal, who did have to pat himself, but instead of it being a congratulatory gesture, it was to make sure that he wasn't on fire as he tried to rob an ATM in the town of Winnellie in the Northern Territory, Australia.
The would-be bank robber appears to place some sort of explosive substance on the machine, before lighting it with a match in the hopes that they would get themselves a whole pile of cash.
The result was captured on CCTV and uploaded to YouTube by the Northern Territory Police Service, who thought that we'd all get a laugh out of it, and learn a valuable lesson at the same time: don't blow up ATMs, obviously.
