It's a victory for the Irish people every time somebody discovers Hurling for the first time. Our national pastime is something unique and we should be proud of its popularity and growth around the world.
Comedian Bill Burr had the pleasure of discovering Hurling for the first time this week and we now have the pleasure of listening to it as it happened. Burr was reading out a listener email during yesterday's episode of his Monday Morning Podcast when the email mentioned the sport of Hurling. Not familiar with it, Burr decided to google it there and then. The following two minutes are comedy gold as Burr, initially dismissive of the sport, does a massive U-turn on his opinion as he sees more and more images of Inter County Hurling in full flow.
